When oil was discovered in Kuwait in the 1930s the Al Sayer family was already long established as leading merchants in foodstuffs, spanning the previous two decades. It was a common vision shared by current chairman Mr. Naser Al Sayer, his father Mohammad, and brother Mr. Bader that would prompt the formation of Al Sayer Holding, and the proceeding arduous journey across Asia in pursuit of new ventures. The end result was the first Toyota Landing in Kuwait in 1955, and the beginning of a new chapter in Al Sayer and Kuwaiti history.

For more than sixty years, Al-Sayer Holding has prospered because of three important and interwoven factors: our customers, our employees, and the international companies we represent. In 60 years distinguished by recognitions and awards, one of the best we’ve received is The Customer Service Excellence Gold Award, which we’ve received for 5 consecutive years. Additionally, in 2013 we were awarded with the prestigious Outstanding Customer Service Leadership Award, which was awarded to only 7 Toyota dealers worldwide.
The traditional Japanese Daruma doll is considered a symbol for good luck, optimism, and persistence. In the context of time management, the doll has even come to symbolize an uncompleted major task or goal. When you begin a task, you color in one pupil, and then place the doll or doll image where it can be seen so that it continuously reminds you of that task. When the task is completed, the second eye is then filled in to mark its completion.
The official kick-off at Al Sayer Group each year is commenced by coloring in a single eye of a Daruma doll, followed by the collection of enrollment signatures from each branch as declaration of their dedicated participation in the kick-off. The objective of the kick-off program is to fortify the practice of operational standards and business applications which reflect the standards of highly esteemed Toyota products. The program consists of operational procedures, criterion, and awards. Employees who approach the challenges proactively contribute utmost value in bringing Kaizen success. Al-Sayer Holding seeks to support and encourage those employees who participate with the fullest sense of positive creativity by rewarding accordingly. This keeps the morale high and serves as a boost of encouragement for employees to strive for continuous improvement— and that’s what Kaizen is all about.
